Diablo IV had Blizzard's best selling opening in history with a a total of 666 million dollars in global sales through the first five days following the official June 6th launch.
Yes. $666 million. The team issued a press release given the details and thanking fans for their support, while also revealing some telling stats about what everyone's been up to since the game launched.
Those stats include 2.7 billion demons killed since Early Access began. Players themselves have died over 316 million times and over 5 million of those were deaths by the Butcher. 5,792,063 deaths, to be specific (as of their cutoff time). For those who are willing to risk it all, 163 players have hit 100 in Hardcore. There are over 6,000 level 100 players not playing on Hardcore. All during the first week.
To mark the successful launch, to thank players and to chat about everything that has been going on, community feedback, and all things Diablo IV, the team will hold its first Campfire Chat on June 16th. This is the first big post-launch team event with community feedback opportunities and a look ahead, so if you've been hanging out in Sanctuary and want to know a little more, here's the chance.
The event will start at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time / 1:00 p.m. Eastern, and you'll be able to tune in on the Diablo Twitch and YouTube channels. The event will feature Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson, game director Joe Shely, associate production director Tiffany Wat, and associate director of community Adam Fletcher.
