Diablo IV is coming to Xbox Game Pass on March 28th, marking the first of the Activision Blizzard titles to make the migration to Xbox's subscription service since the acquisition last year.
The announcement came as part of the broader update on the Xbox business on the Official Xbox Podcast, with the company announcing that Diablo IV will mark the first of the Activision Blizzard titles jumping to the service. This is as a way to start the process of making the publisher's games available on the service.
Via the Xbox Wire post:
"There will be even more to play as we begin to fulfill our commitment to offer Activision and Blizzard games with Game Pass, both new releases and classic games from its legendary catalog. We’re happy to share that Diablo IV will be available to play by the 34 million Game Pass subscribers on both PC and Xbox consoles beginning March 28! This is only the start of Xbox players being able to enjoy Activision and Blizzard games on Game Pass – we look forward to sharing more soon."
Diablo IV has been available to purchase on Xbox (as well as PC and PlayStation) since it launched last year, but the move to Game Pass gives a large swathe of players the chance to jump into Sanctuary for the first time without any additional purchase. There is no word yet on when the next Activision Blizzard game will make the transition, but the team does tease that Diablo is "only the start."
Released last June, Diablo's journey so far hasn't been perfect. While some of its seasons thus far has fellt somewhat flat with players, there is still a lot to look forward to, namely the upcoming expansion, Vessel of Hatred, which is due out later this year.
