Diablo IV has gone gold as its June launch steadily approaches. The term "gone gold" is an industry saying meaning that the game is now functionally complete and can be pressed onto discs ahead of its distribution.

It's important to note that going gold doesn't mean that work has stopped on Diablo IV to get it ready for its June 6th launch. With the advent of day 1 patches and the always-online nature of consoles, there are likely still to be tweaks and changes made to patch in on launch day. However, this milestone marks what Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson calls a "concrete, meaningful step towards" the launch.

"Going gold is a landmark milestone for the incredible Diablo IV team, who have all worked so hard crafting the next-generation installment of this iconic franchise. This is a concrete, meaningful step toward our June 6 launch. Whether players are veterans of the franchise or jumping in for the first time, we can’t wait for everyone to experience the full game: taking part in the incredible storytelling, experimenting with character classes and builds, and exploring what the endgame and the dark world of Sanctuary has to offer."

Diablo IV recently held its open beta, giving players a massive chance to check out the ARPG for themselves ahead of launch. We enjoyed what we played, especially me as a Diablo noob, and are looking forward to going hands-on again in June. The team recently reflected on that beta weekend and talked about some of the changes being made to Diablo IV based on feedback from players as well. Also, be sure to check out our interview with the Diablo IV team that discusses its story content, battle pass, and more end-game activities ahead of launch.
