With the recent Diablo IV beta weekends behind us, and a June 6th launch on the way, the team is revealing a taste of endgame and the variety they’ve packed in.

Endgame is one of those things that can make or break an experience. The Diablo IV team is definitely talking about variety–from higher difficulty tiers, the more than 120 dungeons to discover,  class variety and deep customization options, and even PvP.

Game Director Joe Shely says “A main cornerstone of D4 is ‘play your way’, and this flexibility will show in the ways that you’ll be able to progress throughout the game. With many different classes and a variety of playstyles to support, the number of activities and options that progressing through Diablo IV will unlock looks to support this.

This is also why the team wanted to expand upon Sanctuary and to have lots to pick from to do on your progression journey. Play through the narrative, hit up some dungeons, run around in the overworld and slay enemies in events, and more. And then it comes to endgame, you’ll have to get through a Capstone dungeon, which will unlock more difficulty tiers and even more to earn.

You can clear dungeons and go back to do them again, or even turn things up several notches with things like nightmare sigils and affixes. Nightmare Dungeons alter the structure and actions in the dungeons. The nightmare version will retain some familiarity but it will also be more difficult.

One of the examples mentioned was the Hellgate affix, which, when used, will start spawning portals in various locations where monsters will pour out. This is on top of any other enemies you might already be trying to takedown in the area.

There will be lots of activities in the overworld to discover too, at various difficulty levels. Among them are Helltide areas, where you’ll find more powerful monsters and you can try defeating them for shards to exchange for rewards. Shards also factor in the Fields of Hatred, which adds some PvP.

These are described as parts of Sanctuary where Lilith’s influence has taken hold. Defeat enemies you find there and collect shards, but you'll have to purify them before you're able to take them back to town Other players will notice you're doing that so be prepared for a fight and possibly to lose some stuff if you die. If you escape with your shards, you can use them to buy cosmetics and extras.

Head to Diablo IV for more.
