The Diablo Immortal team is sharing more info on the Age of Unmaking, and the year’s first major update, Precipice of Horror, including a new Elite Quest, Terror Rifts, Oblivion Pillars, and the new best gear tier, Eternal Equipment.
The update will roll out across all regions and be available on Wednesday globally. The Diablo Immortal team released a 2024 roadmap covering a ton of events, new content on the way, the second anniversary, and what looks like a big final quarter. For now, the first part of the update is a huge one, and the year's first content update.
Tempered Instinct is a new Elite Quest by which you get to learn more about Deckard Cain’s past, from his younger days through the events of Diablo II. This is not the only story content in the update, as the Hero’s Journey also continues with chapters 5 and 6 of the story to unlock for those level 55+.
The update is also packed with action and challenging monster slaying. And PvP. There’s a new 1v1 duel mode for levels 60+. Terror Rifts will spawn in three random zones at once, with Terror Portals appearing for the entering. Go inside, slay the challenging monsters, and you can earn Stygian Fragments, and use enough fragments to summon the boss. Defeat the boss and get a reward chest. You can earn up to four per session. Terror Rifts will reset once a week, and you can get rewards up to 10 times.
Terror Essence is also coming, significantly, from those reward chests. You can use it to take on Oblivion Pillars, the most difficult of the new challenges, with waves of monsters awaiting you. If you can claim victory, you now have a chance at the best new gear tier in the game, Eternal Equipment. The new Hellslayer Bounties also give you a shot at gearing up in the best.
There are new Legendary Gems, new Affixes, the return of the free Gem trial, and even a new event. The Hellrise event runs March 27-April 10th and offers Champions’ Revolt tasks. Complete them and earn Champions’ Commendations to exchange for loot.
