Diablo Immortal may still have some controversy over its monetization, but there’s still a Diablo game there. Season two has begun and the first major content release since launch is here, along with some hints as to where things will be headed next, and a dedicated PC version known issues blog.
In line with what Blizzard President Mike Ybarra recently said, in response to being asked about the monetization system, the blog on the update emphasizes the content delivery. The team says they’re paying attention to feedback, and emphasize that:
“It’s our intention for Diablo Immortal to be a game that you can forge friendships over while felling adversaries together and enjoy playing for many years to come. As we’ve mentioned in the past, Diablo Immortal will receive frequent content updates, supplying new Helliquary bosses, in-game events, expansions, and more—all of which will be free.”
The new content includes a new Helliquary raid boss, the demon with icy wings, Vitaath the Shivering Death. She has risen from the Frozen Tundra’s icy depths and is looking to turn Sanctuary into ice. Clearly, if you want to be prepared for her, you’ll have to be able to withstand and overpower her frozen skills.
Season 2 has begun, with the Season Two Battle Pass: Bloodsworn now available. If you’re looking to rise through the ranks and get some rewards from the pass, you can do it from the free tier or add on one of the premium levels. This pass runs through August 4th. Rewards include Legendary Gems, crests, hilts, and more.
Next weekend, Diablo Immortal is getting a special event, Hungering Moon Weekend. The Moon is demanding blood, and if you fulfill those demands, you will learn Moonsilvers, which you can trade for Blessings, trade those for random rewards, and maybe even gain the Moon’s favor. This will run from July 15th through the 18th.
The update also includes some class balance changes and fixes. And speaking of classes, one of the promises for what’s next in is that class change is coming later this month.
