Shattered Sanctuary is looming over Diablo Immortal. This next update will be here on Friday, December 13th, and you’ll finally be on a path to confront Diablo, the Lord of Terror himself. The team revealed details on the update and a new cinematic.
The main quest update finds you in urgent need of allies. Gather them and sail to the north to face demons. There's nothing unusual about facing demons in Diablo Immortal, but this time there are hordes and hordes of demons pouring into the world because Diablo has been restored. Armed with the sword El’druin, you’ll be on course to defeat his armies, push back his lieutenants, and eventually face a final, decisive battle. You’ll have to dismantle the weapon that is at the center of Diablo's plan. You’ll find this in the Crater of Unmaking, deep in the new zone, World’s Crown.
The new zone is the largest to date in the game. It's snowy and expansive (seven subzones, one safe zone, and new bounties) and it's besieged by the Legions of Terror, including “wanted” monsters. That plan you’re going to have to halt? At World’s Crown, Diablo is working to fuse Sanctuary with the Burning Hells.
In this new zone up in the far north, is where you will eventually come face to face with Diablo. Those forces and lieutenants are made up of Terror demons, Shardborne, cultists, and The Maddened. The latter were once sailors and the first to set eyes upon Diablo’s face, which drove them insane. Just another afternoon hunting hellspawn, right? Not quite. Get that far and you'll face Diablo in a duel. If you lose, Sanctuary itself will be unmade.
No pressure.
After all of this, you emerge with a win, you and a group can confront Diablo again as a replayable challenge for some fine loot, including El’druin inspired cosmetics, and Set items.
The Shattered Sanctuary update is the final content update of the year, and it’s packed. While the big fight overshadows a lot of the returning events, and balance changes (all of that’s detailed in the new preview), there are some other highlight features.
Dreadbirth Helliquary Bosses are the next level of challenge, key to unlocking new Helliquary levels. Challenge Dungeons are coming. These are higher-difficulty, more rewarding versions of previously released dungeons. Accept the challenge, and you’ll get 1-2 random modifiers at the start. And you should be prepared because monsters have 500% more life and deal 200% more damage in these dungeons. And then the modifiers kick in. If you complete one per week you'll get a chest with a guaranteed Set item and subsequent runs also net you significant rewards.
Familiars get some significant updates, there are three new Legendary Gems, a new Season 34 Battle Pass opens next week, and much more.
Shattered Sanctuary will be available in Diablo Immortal across all regions on Friday.
