When the Diablo Immortal roadmap came out, the team said to expect a brand new class that was entirely new to the Diablo universe. Now, we know what it is: The Tempest.
The new class was revealed with a brand new cinematic about an ill-fated voltage for a ship. One night, “Sanctuary’s evil had been unleashed upon us” the narrator says. And that is indeed what happens, until one of the beasts attempts to move in on the remaining sailors and is felled by Tempests.
“In a time of ever-growing danger for the world of Sanctuary, mysterious wanderers have sailed from the frigid mists of the north to push back the darkness that surrounds us. These agile, dual blade-wielding warriors harness the fury of the storm, and crash upon their enemies with wind and waves,” the announcement says.
The Tempest is “ancient history come to life” and introduced standing against the forces of dangerous demons. They are fast, using their agility and dual blades to harness the storm and the elemental might of wind and water (now we know what that Swirling Winds event was leading us to). The reveal trailer shows a taste of these fast storm-fueled abilities and what they might look like when a Tempest strikes. They are in and out of the fight, and this should appeal to anyone who wants a combination of power and maneuverability.
We can expect a deep dive on the new Tempest class, the eighth class to join the roster, as well as a short story from senior narrative designer Ryan Quinn that will let us know more about Tempests. will also get a rundown of all of their skills, how to use them, and to prepare for the classes arrival in Diablo Immortal on May 23rd.
