Diablo Immortal is getting ready for some light in Sanctuary, sort of, with the return of Tong-Shi’s Renewal for Lunar New Year. Expect new and returning events (some with a Tong-Shi twist), feature updates, and lots of rewards, including better opportunities for gems and other goodies.

Downtime for the update will start tomorrow, and it will be available in all regions by Wednesday,  January 22nd. Things kick off with the Tong-Shi’s Renewal limited time event, where the god of the Xian pantheon invites you to mark a new year. Complete tasks from January 22nd through February 13th to earn Red Bags and Tseym. You can earn up to 30 bags per week to gift to others. You’ll get rewards for sending them, like gems, and even Rare Crests, and your recipient will get goodies when they open them.

Tasks to earn the bags include a variety of activities like killing Elite monsters, dungeons, Elder Rifts, bounties (during the event, Familiars can do them), and defeating Jingun, Eater of Mountains. Jingun needs to be found first. Join with others to find this reincarnated beast by completing daily tasks that will send you on his track. The encounter is repeatable, so collect those Red Bags and other loot.

New events and events with a Tong-Shi or simple Lunar New Year twist are coming. Gem Surge is a new limited-time event that will let you upgrade your Legendary Gems’ quality by earning Polished Jade. Earn it through a number of methods, and there will be a login reward each week to add to your progress.

A new Phantom Market is coming, Celestial Serpents. The Year of the Snake is dawning, after all. Get one free draw for a random item from the 10-item pool. Spend Obols  to try your luck in further draws. Lucky players could get the new Celestial Serpents cosmetic set.

There are a number of returning events. Tong-Shi’s Fractured Plane will have two available builds and random modifiers. Survivor’s Bane also gets a Tong-Shii shift. Alley of Blood, Trial of the Hordes, Conqueror, and All Clans on Deck are also among returning events.

The update will also bring a number of other improvements, including UI and inventory enhancements, two new stash tabs for purchase, and increased Resonance cap. So a series of balance changes on the way and you can find all the details in the update notes.
