Blizzard previewed Diablo 4 Season 5 in its latest Campfire Chat developer livestream this week and there’s a whole lot to dig into.
Season 5’s marquee feature is a roguelike endgame experience called Infernal Hordes. The wave based mode is notable not only as a new piece of content but also for taking players back to Hell.
Infernal Hordes will see players fight to survive against 90 second waves of enemies that increase in difficult with each wave. At the conclusion of a wave, players can select from a number of Boons and Banes to modify the experience, potentially making it more difficult for greater rewards.
As players fight through waves, they’ll accrue Burning Aether, which can be spent to unlock Spoils of Hell following successful runs, guaranteeing item rewards with Greater Affixes.
In addition to the new mode, there are countless other additions, including dozens of new Uniques and Legendary items, a balance pass for Uniques, Legendary aspects, and classes, and more.
Season 5 hits Diablo 4’s Public Test Realm next Tuesday, June 25. Blizzard has slated the season to go live on August 8, though it will be a shorter one at roughly two months. Season 6 will launch with the game’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, on October 8.
