Diablo 4 pulled back the curtain on the vampiric scourge that will descend upon Sanctuary on October 17th in Season 2. Blizzard will also release Diablo 4 on Steam the same day.
The team held its latest Campfire Chat stream, and there’s a lot of reveals to whet your appetite for what’s coming. There’s a new seasonal questline, new companion, the vampire hunter Erys (Gemma Chan),a new Battle Pass, the Season event, and a lot more, including new Uber Endgame bosses.
This time, there will be a new platform to get your slaying on - Steam. Diablo 4 is the next game that Blizzard and Valve have revealed for release on the platform as part of their deal.
Word has been spreading about a new threat, this time of brutal deaths, scattered at first, but more recently, greedy and spreading rapidly. The most recent murders draw even more attention and now it's your turn to check everything out and see what's going on.
The vampire Lord Zir is what’s going on. But the vampires aren’t going to go quietly. So you’ll have to take the drastic step of killing enemies, collecting the new Potent BLood resource and the new Pact Armor to acquire Vampiric Powers for yourself and wield them against your enemies. The armor pieces you have, coupled with what types those pieces are, will open up your pool of powers. There are 22 Vampiric Powers in Season of Blood, usable by any class.
Turning their powers against them by using their blood you'll be able to continuously build and progress Vampiric Powers through the seasonal questline and the seasonal event, Blood Harvest. Blood Harvest will offer many opportunities to get blood and packed armor, by slaying as many enemies as you can, and earning reputation to get yourself some new rewards. We can also expect some world events and dungeon events that can also be suitably rewarding and help you complete even more vampire killing.
The team has heard the feedback about beefing up the amount of stuff to do in endgame and they’re adding the Boss Ladder and five Uber difficulty bosses. Not only will they drop Uniques and Uber Uniques at higher rates, they’ll drop special cosmetics too. Farm away.
The Diablo 4 team is delivering on promises of faster progression, with a 40% faster time to 100 over Season of the Malignant. This is only one of the quality of life updates that are on the way, including faster mount speed, a number of item and inventory management tweaks for improved organization and less repetition. Additionally, you'll now be able to skip the campaign and get right into the seasonal content as soon as you finish the prologue.
