As if Hell and the jungle weren’t butal enough, now Diablo 4 is delving into the world of Witchcraft—which players can wield for themselves. The Season of Witchcraft coming later this month gives players an eerie new Coven to interact with, with a series of quests and bosses that grant new Witchcraft abilities, prizes, and more.
In the spooky new Diablo 4 Season, players discover the Tree of Whispers, which is missing the Heads of those condemned for their debts, and ally with the Witches of Hawezar to learn their powers and bring the Heads back for justice and stability.
As it’s described in the post, there are three new schools of Witchcraft to learn through the Seasonal Questline:
- Eldritch—Wield magic that harnesses destructive energies.
- Psyche—Wield defensive powers of the mind and spirit to create visions, focus your attacks, and induce madness in your enemies.
- Growth & Decay—Wield living magic that both heals and harms, boosting Life, Resource. These incantations can create horrific diseases and disruptions.
Players can unlock these skills through Seasonal reputation with the Coven, earning Restless Rot through Whisper bounties and taking down Headrotten enemies.
In addition to the reputation boosts and standard quest rewards, Whisper quest completion in the Headhunt zones starts a series of actions that can spawn the Headrotten bosses, which are massive abominations grown from the missing heads of the Tree of Whispers. Returning the Head of the fallen boss to the Tree of Whispers grants a special prize.
These quests and bosses give the material for the Seasonal socketables, Occult Gems, plus a chance at the Ancestral Collection line of items.
Along with this new content, a slew of changes, fixes, and additional content will be added into Diablo 4. The Season of Witchcraft drops on January 21 at 10:00 a.m. PST.
