Diablo IV’s Season of the Construct is on the way, and team held another community livestream to give a rundown on all the details on new challenges, Vaults, your new robot friend, constructs, and much more.
Season 3 will arrive next week on January 23rd, and the update notes are already here to prepare everyone. In addition to a fresh seasonal questline and story, the season will also add new Legendary items, new uniques, and new challenges, including more stuff to do at endgame. Additional changes also bring more to do, easier ways to respec, and WASD control finally hits PC.
A demon named Malphas stole an ancient technology known as the Loom, and you’ll work to find him and set things right. You’ll get The Seneschal, a little robot friend who will follow you around and help you traverse the tricky constructs and progress. This companion will be upgradable with weapons and other useful tools via tuning stones to really round out your support down below. You can configure it to buff you, give you defensive protection, or serve as a second damage dealer. It's one of the biggest new features of the season.
The team also talked about other new features including The Gauntlet, which will introduce Leaderboards, and Vaults. Vaults are a new type of dungeon with additional challenges. They’re filled with traps and the main boss is a construct. If you make it through to the end without taking damage from traps, you'll even get bonus loot. You can get to Vaults through Gatehall, which is a new town that you'll find below Kehjistan. The Gauntlet is going to rotate weekly, and will include Leaderboards. You can even get your name in the Hall of Ancients if you top the board.
The Diablo 4 team has promised more stuff to keep you busy at endgame and are delivering. In this stream, they also addressed their communication strategies and need to improve that they have been working on. As for endgame, Helltides will now almost always be up somewhere in the overworld. Instead of needing to wait an hour in between when they spawn, there will only be a 5-minute break before a new one appears in another place.
There are some practical changes as well, including ways to undo and respec in sections instead of the whole tree, and WASD control for PC. As for respecs, you can refund the entire skill tree or you can choose to redo sections at a time in order to make the process a little more fine-tuned.
The team acknowledged they've heard the desire for a group finder and more social features, and they’re giving a heads up that an itemization update is likely in Season 4.
