After an extended PTR-testing period that was lengthened due to the need to patch the build, Diablo 3’s next update test has concluded. This comes as end dates for Season 26 have been shared, and a peek ahead towards Season 27.
Now that the test is over, Blizzard is talking the end of the season. The Fall of Nephalem, Season 26, will end on August 21st at 5pm PDT in North America, and at 5pm in CEST and KST, local times. This closes things out and moves us closer to the arrival of Season 27, which didn’t get a release date reveal just yet.
Season 27 will be taking some different focuses, and the PTR testing was also to get feedback on the new consumable, Angelic Crucibles, that will be woven into the season’s theme and offerings. In addition to the new consumable, this update will introduce Sanctified items. You can Sanctify certain items using these Angelic crucibles that will reinforce the item and give it Ancient-evel stats on all its affixes and preserve Legendary Power. It will also add a special power to the item. These powers are unique to each class, and there are three new powers per class that you could end up with on an item. If you don't like the outcome, you can sanctify and item again to get a different power.
The Diablo 3 team promises that there will be a deep dive into season 27 with a brand new preview coming soon, but there isn't more info than what was released in the PT are preview notes available just yet. If you haven't tested out the patch, the upcoming preview should cover everything we need to know about this new update, its title, and all of the new things coming.
