Final Fantasy XI for Windows will include the Rise of the Zilart expansion pack released separately in Japan. The game will carry a suggested retail price of $49.95. Subscribers will receive their first 30 days of access free. Final Fantasy XI will then be available for $12.95 a month for one character. Players can create additional characters for an additional monthly charge of one dollar per character. A mini-game called Tetra Master will be available for one dollar per month as well.

Final Fantasy XI for PS2 will be released in conjunction with the system's internal hard drive. Sony Computer Entertainment America will announce specific product details - including release date and price - at another time.

Players are required to have an Internet connection and will be required to register on PlayOnline - a Square Enix network service that serves as a portal to Final Fantasy XI and as a gateway to several other applications - including communication tools and file downloads. Players will create personalized identities that allow users to communicate with each other no matter where they are on the PlayOnline network. These basic services will be available free of charge.
