Destiny 2 Dawning Event Dropped The Ball For Many Players In 2023

The latest Dawning event in Destiny 2 was meant to be a fun and enticing seasonal celebration but instead has caused outrage within the games’ community.

The event started in December of 2023 and was set to run until January 2, 2024, giving players plenty of time to enjoy the content and kick off the snowy season. While most of the event's features played out perfectly fine, the Statis Snowballs really gave the fans of the game the business, as the feature did not work properly throughout the entire duration of the event.

During the event, the Snowstorm modifier would be active throughout several activities within Destiny 2, which when active would allow a Statis Snowball to drop from combatants once defeated. These Snowballs could then be picked up and thrown at foes in order to deal damage as well as slow them down. These snowballs were intended to bring a bit of lighthearted fun to the event, as they could be upgraded through purchases from Eva in order to make them more powerful.

For those who painstakingly upgraded these wintery weapons, they were surely disappointed in the fact that the upgrades did not work as anticipated. The Long Winter and Longer winter upgrade allegedly did not increase the slow effect brought upon by the snowballs, while the Stay Frosty upgrade was not leaving a Stasis mine on those hit by the snowball.

Most events from Bungie are highly-anticipated and enjoyable for the fans, while the Dawning event in 2023 felt lackluster in comparison to the other events that have gone on in the past. Hopefully, this will not be standard practice for events in the future.
