Decision to Delay The Day Before Again Was Made Before Any Trademark Issue

The Day Before’s latest delay was not in direct response to the trademark issue, developer Fntastic, has admitted. The game was already set to be delayed again when the trademark was brought up by the person who owed it, and the team went ahead with their original plans anyway. In a new interview, the devs insist that they’ve been hard at work on the game and that it’s real, despite some claiming it might just be a scam.

Giving an interview to IGN, Fntastic co-founders Eduard and Aisen Gotovtsev admitted that their claim of The Day Before's recent delay (just weeks ahead of the already delayed March 1st launch date) was already in the works. When the trademark and delay statement was released this week, the team’s new date of November 10th was already the plan. The new gameplay video, that was supposedly on the way and derailed by the trademark dispute, was supposed to come out and with that, the delay announcement.

"We planned to move the game's release before and plan to announce it with [publisher] Mytona in a 10-minute gameplay video. And then you all know what happened, “ they said. They “chose November 10. That is a safe date, given the trademark dispute” they conclude.

Still, there are lingering doubts, and this new assurance isn’t likely to win over some who continue to wonder if we’ll ever see it at all. “All these years have been full of sweat and blood to make this game, and for many members of our team, it is unpleasant to hear such accusations,” Fantastic says.

They continue to defend their process, and vow to use the extra time to both resolve the trademark issue and continue to work on game improvements. As for that new gameplay footage, we’ll see more if and when that is something they are able to release.

For more on the game, head to The Day Before.
