DC Universe Online's next episode, Brainiac Returns!, is coming later this month, bringing the iconic villain back to the MMO as he launches a full-scale assault on Earth on May 23rd.

As teased back in March, Brainiac Returns! (the 47th Episode launch from the DCUO team), sees the all-out threat from the iconic villain forces the Justice League to work alongside the likes of Lex Luthor to bring an end to Brainiac's schemes. However, with this new release, long-time DCUO fans are getting a treat, according to lead producer Kenn White.

"Brainiac Returns! is a particularly exciting update for us – and not only because of the titular supervillain (Boo! Hiss!) For the first time, we're letting players enter the Hall of Justice in our current Earth. That's a big moment for DCUO fans, and I'm looking forward to hearing their reactions."

The upcoming episode also brings new Gear Suits to DCUO, with Brainiac's new suit and the Aberrant suit ready for players to suit up and thwart Brainiac's assault.

"I'm also quite stoked about the new Gear Suits in the Brainiac Returns! update," says Kenn. He continued, "First, Mastermind lets you equip Brainiac's newly designed suit and see what it's like to be the big guy himself. Well, without all those galaxy-conquering impulses. If you're feeling a bit more casual, the Aberrant suit is inspired by Lex Luthor's failed Exobyte experiments in the new Duo: Overrun Area 51. It's a good option for folks looking for a failed mutant vibe but aren't quite ready to commit."
