DC Universe Online is not only celebrating its 12th anniversary, but there's a new roadmap for talking about episode 45, Shock to the System, and a brief look into some of what to expect from this year.

The Attack of the Anti-Monitor anniversary event, is going on now, and in February, we can expect the return of Love Conquers All. March will see the return of Mister Mxyzptlk's Mischief. There's more to come in this first quarter of the year, with a second ally, following Shazam who came out last week, as well as a new artifact, time capsule, and new rewards. Yet the biggest update of them all will be Episode 45, Shock to the System.

Episode 45 is set to launch sometime in the spring across all platforms, and we can expect Normal and Elite versions of the On-Duty content in the update, event versions that will also be available for limited time, new open world missions, and world bosses. As usual, expect a duo, alert, and a raid to take on.

So what is Episode 45 all about? Heroes and villains are disappearing in Dakota City and Static has contacted you to see if you can find out why. And how does this factor into Apokolips’ plans? It's your turn to investigate. Shock to the System will take place in and around Dakota City and feature characters like Static, Ebon, Rocket, and DeSaadand will be written by comic book writer Leon Chills.

Also in Q1, the team is beginning to work on the early stages of episode 46. They're creating a new emotes system that will feature collectible emotes and animations that you'll be able to use throughout the game.

As for the rest of the year, expect Episode 46 in the summer and Episode 47 in the fall,  along with new artifacts, and allies. We do get one hint: “One of these episodes is likely to be pretty dark while the other is expected to be very not”. Additionally, of course we can expect the return of the seasonal events with some updates.
