DayZ, the zombie infested ARMA 2 survival  mod and eventual standalone title, has been around since 2012 but just recently its been breaking its own concurrent user records.

On Steam, we can see that DayZ put in a new all time record of 78,937 roughly nine days ago following the release of the game’s latest expansion, Frostline.

Bohemia Interactive followed this news with an official announcement providing even more detail and celebrating a new 501,522 daily active user record across all of the game’s released platforms, which include PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. These figures were further broken down by platform, with 235,618 players on Steam, 113,897 players on PlayStation, and 152,037 players on Xbox. Concurrent users peaked 78,937 on Steam, 33,000 on PlayStation, and 36,000 on Xbox, according to Bohemia.

The announcement also reveals that Frostline sold over 300,000 copies in its first week of release, clearly reigniting interest in the venerable zombie survival game.

Frostline sends players to a new frozen archipelago, adding new survival mechanics as players must survive the elements in addition to everything else. Food will also be scarce and given the environment will often be frozen and need to be thawed out.

DayZ Frostline is available now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
