At San Diego Comic-Con, Daybreak Games held a panel featuring a number of developers from its games, revealing details on updates on the way, including new LOTRO expansion title, DCUO episode, and more.
The devs on the panel represented DC Universe Online, EverQuest, EverQuest 2, The Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons & Dragons Online, and Magic: The Gathering Online. Daybreak promises To upload the full panel video soon, but for now they have a recap detailing some of what we can expect.
DC Universe Online, which is celebrating its 13th anniversary, featured lead Chad Brown Talking about the power of the community, comic books and their impact on culture, and revealed more on the native Xbox Series X|S client and the next episode title. Harley Quinn vs. Apokolips is coming this fall, based on a DC arc where Harley Quinn joins the Female Furies And begins to regret that decision.
Dungeons & Dragons Online’s next expansion, Magic of Myth Drannor, is coming on August 14th and features the new Chaosmancer Archetype, a new playable Eladrin race, and a new zone. At the panel, executive producer Rob Ciccolini also shared that the team is giving away a free dragon hatchling pet.
EverQuest and EverQuest II’s Jenn Chan shared stories about community, including when the community responded to a request from a terminally ill child's mom seeking help to decorate her son’s in game. Players from across servers donated materials, labor, supplies, and their design skills. Chan also shared details on the Year of Darkpaw, teasing updates to the anniversary tower, along with The Outer Brood and Scars of Destruction.
For The Lord of the Rings Online, Ciccolini talked about update 41, the introduction of birding, added that new legendary servers are coming. These servers feature an additional challenge with the arrival of Ringwraiths tracking you down to attack you. He also announced the next expansion title: Legacy of Morgoth.
Magic: The Gathering Online had a special place, considering that the game has grown over the past 22 years and that longevity was part of the presentation, including how player demand impacts updates.
