In a brace of letters released to the EverQuest communities, new Darkpaw Studios head Jennifer Chan addressed the community. This comes almost a week after it was announced former head of studio Holly Longdale was stepping down from her role.

In two letters released, one to each the EverQuest and EverQuest II communities, Chan introduces herself and lays out how this change doesn't mean change to EverQuest as they know it.

I look forward to us getting to know each other more.  Prior to stepping into my role as current Head of Studio at Darkpaw Games, I’ve been the Technical Director the last 6 years for EverQuest and EverQuest II, and before that, I was programmer for the franchise between 2008 and 2013.

I want to reassure you that the change of guard does not mean change of plans in EverQuest. We are moving full steam ahead on our road map for the year with lots of new and additional fun content in store.

In her letter to OG EverQuest fans, she addresses the upcoming Overseer update, which will be releasing with the patch hitting EQ today. EverQuest II fans can expect to see leveling components and a new season coming in April to its Overseer, as well as some class and balance changes "that have been talked about in the past," though Chan doesn't elaborate on what exactly.

Additionally, Chan mentions that the team is hard at work planning expansion 17 for EverQuest II, so stay tuned for more info on that as it starts to trickle out from Darkpaw.

Finally, with the 21st anniversary of EverQuest hitting this year, Chan details a few rewards player can expect to see in the original game.

As part of our 21st Anniversary celebrations we’ve added a new mount and other fun items to the jubilant merchant, unlocked Veteran Reward AAs for All Characters, all All Access members will receive a Heroic Character unlock for their accounts, and two player designed missions will make their appearance as anniversary quests!

You can check out the full letters on both the EverQuest and EverQuest II websites.
