Cyberpunk 2077 is the latest game to be getting its own board game. Things are ramping up now that the game’s crowdfunding campaign has been announced.
The crowdfunding campaign will launch on September 3rd and the team at Go On Board recently announced more details about what we can expect from the game that they are making in partnership with CDPR.
Cyberpunk 2077 the board game is set in an alternate version of the story. You get a call as you are on your way to Konpecki Plaza to finish a heist you were hired for by Dexter DeShawn. The mysterious voice on the other end of the line is Seer, and tells you don't complete the heist. That is where things start and you get an alternate mission that should serve to prove what Seer is saying and whether you'll accept their offer.
After you decide what to do there will be three story lines in the game that you can follow and they all lead to a grand finale. Each path has 13 missions, each lasting approximately 45 minutes to an hour. The stories are different, feature different mechanics, enemies, stages, and offer different experiences in terms of gameplay and even the mood of the path itself. Since they are different but somehow narratively interconnected, all leading to the Ggrand finale, you'll have to take on every mission in order to see everything that the team is planning.
The game will also feature street story cards. There are 50 stories that you can uncover during the campaign. If you complete these stories, your next mission will start with you at a disadvantage or at a distinct advantage. This will be how you get things like new weapons. There are also difficulty levels to choose from, which alter things like how much time you have to finish your objectives, how much pressure you're putting on your team, and how much challenge you want.
There's more on the official campaign page, Including a look at what you'll get with the game, as well as q&a's, behind the scenes videos, and more. The game's first stretch goal will involve a miniature or a token that will help you bring Johnny Silverhand into the game (with potential chaotic effect).
