Crown Crates to be Deployed on December 1st

The Elder Scrolls Online site has been updated with notification that the sometimes controversial Crown Crates will be deployed into the in-game shop on Thursday, December 1st. Crown Crates are filled with a variety of items that will be changed on a seasonal basis. The controversy surrounding Crown Crates has centered around the random nature of which items are within the crate.

Crates will contain a minimum of four items with a chance to receive a fifth item. If a player receives an item already owned, a new currency, Crown Gems, will be given in its place. Some items from Crown Crates can also be converted into Crown Gems.

Any Crown Gems you earn can then be used to purchase the collectible items of your choosing from the current Crown Crate season.

Each Crown Crate is associated with a special “Season" that will include uniquely themed items, and will be cycled quarterly. We're kicking off the first season of Crown Crates with the electrifying Storm Atronach theme
