AFK Journey, the sequel to AFK Arena, is out now on PC and mobile, taking us back to the world of Esperia in a new free to play fantasy RPG.

The live-service game is out now, from Farlight Games, with full cross-platform support and planned updates on the way. The team expands upon AFK Arena with a few new additions, including turning Esperia into a full world to explore, a new refreshed art style they call “live canvas”, and fully-voiced cutscenes. The live canvas art style blends an illustrated fantasy style intended to resemble a picture book.

In Esperia, you can recruit other heroes to help you out, battle enemies, and earn a bunch of new rewards through both active action and idle mechanics. Now that the world has been expanded and you can explore it, you can roam around the world and explore the towns and grab quests from NPCs you meet. As for the heroes you can recruit to your team, some are returning and should be familiar if you have played AFK Arena, but many  are new.

The combat system has new abilities, with additions like added traps and timed moves for those active combat moments. It depends which heroes you bring into battle with you, adding tactical considerations to putting your best team together.

Since this is a cross platform, live service title, you can start on one platform, take it on the go on mobile, and continue on PC, with your in between idle time counting towards progression. Characters will progress and level up, earning you additional rewards with the item mechanics.

The AFK Journey  team plans to release updates roughly every quarter, with the first one aimed for a May release.
