At Gamescom, Pearl Abyss is letting people play Crimson Desert for the first time in a demo that gives you a choice between four distinct bosses to ultimately take on. The team revealed the first boss, White Horn, earlier this week, and has now released video and details on all four.

Each boss fight is set in a different biome, to show off some of the world you’ll play in. White Horn is a mountain spirit found high in the White Mountains. This creature is a large beast found within the snowy mountains. In addition to charging and landing on you with devastating force,  he can also shroud himself in the snow storm and give himself an opportunity to charge again.

Reed Devil  is a mysterious masked enemy you’ll find in the field , whose  relatively small size may surprise you when he starts attacking. He's fast, mobile, and can attack from all directions, taking things up a notch mid-battle when he gets even more aggressive and creates phantom clones of himself.  in order to take down the real deal, you'll have to get rid of the copies.

Staglord is described as a fallen king on a forsaken throne. He's still ready to protect his claim, however and he waits alone with his sword ready to strike. He looks human and does engage in sword and shield combat but he'll charge and grab and you have to be ready.

Finally, there is Queen Stoneback Crab, the largest boss of the four featured in the demo. This is a gem crested giant crab that looks like a hill. In order to take this one down, you'll have to climb on its back, always at risk of being thrown off, and you'll have to take down a few structures before you can really damage and defeat the boss. It's reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus.

One of the key features of Crimson Desert is an expansive and flexible combat system that gives you freedom to figure out how you want to take on various challenges and a number of viable options that fit a variety of playstyles. Pearl Abyss wants you to remember that these are just a few of the options.
