New screenshots and details about Pearl Abyss’ upcoming MMO, Crimson Desert, were revealed earlier today.
The new details arrive via IGN, which describe the main marketing character shown off in many of the screenshots,
“The character you see in our key art is Macduff, son of Martinus. He’s the leader of a ragtag band of mercenaries. Macduff is a man in constant turmoil, struggling with the responsibilities of leadership and the survival of those who rely on him. He has a tragic past and no matter how hard he tries, he cannot escape from it."
The team has created entirely new “worldviews, religions, characters,” and more unique to Crimson Desert. The game is also set to feature a rich single-player campaign, coupled with a “vast amount of content” for more traditional MMORPG gameplay.
Character development was also expounded upon, with the team explaining that the story is one of many characters who interact with the main character,
“Each character has their own unique backgrounds and tales to tell, affecting everything from the decisions they make to the gear they equip. This extends to the lands of Crimson Desert, which are full of other mercenary groups each with their own distinct personalities and inclinations.”
In case you missed it, a recent interview with Crimson Desert’s Lead Producer detailed the new engine, ray tracing, and more. Crimson Desert is set to hit a beta for PC and consoles in 2020.
