Loftia, an independent cozy MMORPG from Qloud Games, has launched its Kickstarter campaign to fund further development with an eye on release on PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch. In less than two hours, the team met its $150,000 goal and released the first stretch goals.
Like many cozy games, there's a lot of farming and other simulation gameplay, and the small Australian studio is working to create something designed to help players connect with each other and discover collaboration through mechanics inspired by classic MMO elements. This might include group quests, and creating guilds, which are known as clubs in the game.
Loftia is being created in Unreal Engine 5, and the team does draw influence from both its goals of connection and community activities, and games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. However, they also take inspiration from other franchises like The Sims, but also classic MMOs like MapleStory or World of Warcraft. They are looking to build a fun space where people can connect and relax, socialize, and form a community. There are player housing options, including customization and decorations. Housing also includes multiplayer housing, community farming, study sessions, and even group hangout spaces.

The development team is looking to stand out with its cozy, creative, futuristic, solarpunk theme. In addition to farming in the soil and watering crops like most MMOs or cozy farming sims, you'll be able to engage in hydroponic farming, and you'll be able to craft by using materials that you get from salvaged goods. Build a sustainable city together.
Loftia has attracted a sizable amount of attention since the Qloud team announced it, gaining the team over 160,000 Instagram followers and 20,000 members on its official Discord. This follows the attention garnered by fellow independent cozy game, Palia, which is headed into beta tomorrow, but shows continued demand for games like this.
The Kickstarter campaign currently sits at just over $200,000 and the first stretch goals have been announced. 175,000 brought 10 additional pets, which will be decided via community votes. Hitting 200,000 means a fishing system. The next stretch goal, at a yet unrevealed amount, will be an aquaponics system that will work with hydroponics on your farm.
