Top down MMORPG Corepunk’s closed beta has been delayed again, but the developers are “close”, to getting it ready, they say. While the closed beta goal won't be made this year, the team is promising some new footage very soon to show off some of their progress and tide us all over for a bit.
Making an announcement in the game’s official Discord, the devs say that we’ll be seeing more very soon. It seems that this time, the delay is more for polish and simply for needing additional time. Previously, Corepunk’s development was impacted by the war in Ukraine, with a large part of development up to that point having happened in the Artificial Core team’s Kyiv office. Thankfully, most of the Ukraine-based team had been safely relocated. Despite these setbacks, work continues on Corepunk, and this is what we can look forward to this month.
“By the end of the month we want to share some extended gameplay footage focused on resource gathering, crafting and itemization.
We’ll show you 8 professions in action, the different kinds of bonuses and perks that they provide, as well as the logic behind their design.”
These peeks should be a welcome update for those that have remained patient while the team faced those challenges of war and safety. Game development is an often long process anyway, and dates get missed all the time, and usually for much less urgent reasons.
“You'll see how Corepunk looks and plays right now, while also get a feel for the game’s open-world,” the update continues, so it seems that if the team has that much to show us, then it does seem like they are getting close to their goal, as they said, even if it misses by a little.
