Controversial Class Design Addressed In Developer Response

The World of Warcraft PTR for Legion was recently updated with the v7.1.5 patch that is a work in progress. This particular patch is specifically designed around tuning classes and specs, with regards to mechanics, rotations, abilities, talent options, etc. The WoW forums have been alight with heated discussions about the sometimes massive changes perceived coming to many classes.

For instance, on the US WoW forums the Hunter community has been very vocal about the changes currently sitting on PTR and the game-breaking consequences of current design. In response to now 14 page discussion, Community Manager Ornyx stepped in to remind players that the changes are not set in stone and that the players are not seeing the entire picture and shouldn't rely on datamining. Many players feel that this was a "canned" response in that these changes are not datamined but are currently present on PTR.

This is but one of many examples across the class-specific forums. As a result, Ornyx came back with a post on general forum to try to put out the flame and to give further clarification on Blizzard's view of the PTR process:

Right now, the build currently live on the 7.1.5 PTR is only about halfway through those mechanical changes. We’ve been continuing to work hard on getting those finished, and the next build should give you a clearer picture of what’s happening with your spec. We’ll try to share as much insight as we can into what we’re doing at that point.

There is no timeline as yet for the release of v7.1.5 and it will remain to be seen if Ornyx post will calm the community and what further changes will be released on PTR in future updates. Read more at the links above.
