Company of Heroes 3 finally has a console release date. Relic Entertainment and Sega had announced that the franchise would be coming to console for the first time with CoH3. The game was then pushed back on PC and the console window was then up in the air.
Now, the acclaimed strategy franchise will land on console with Company of Heroes 3 on May 30th.
While the Company of Heroes franchise has featured gamepad support in the past, this is the first time the franchise is going to appear on console. The features that are built for console, include a custom UI, controller support, and a number of features that will help players get used to the mechanics as well as being able to play at their own pace. That custom UI is adapted specifically for gamepads, and there are additional features like Full Tactical Pause.
Full Tactical Pause freezes the action, so that you can slow down the pacing and get to make your moves without having to react in real time. This is one of the ways that the team is supporting a flexible approach for this console debut and helping with the learning curve.
In Company of Heroes 3, there are single-player, multiplayer, and co-op vs. AI modes, so there’s something for every style. This time around, the game features a turn-based Italian Dynamic Campaign that is grounded in the setting and designed to offer something new, new maps, and new story. The game will also take you to North Africa for a more narrative-based single player experience.
The game will come to both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preorders for both platforms, in physical or digital editions, opening up on April 25th.
