The Star Wars: The Old Republic forum has been updated with a new post to reassure players that their existing companions will remain available to them outside of the story Chapters in the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion. During Chapters, a specific group of characters will be accompanying players.
In addition, players will be able to choose what role their companions will fulfill, whether tank, healer or DPS and that gear will scale with the player's power and stats, all outside the gear they have equipped. Affection earned will also be retained.
If you have more Companion questions, feel free to ask them in this thread. We will work to answer them throughout the rest of the week. Keep in mind of course that we will not answer spoilery questions. Finally, we ended the stream with a video clip from Chapter 1 of Fallen Empire which shows an important decision made around one of the character's Companions. Sparing any spoilers, check out the archive for the clip.
