In a new video published by Activison, the Treyarch team previewed the major details for the Zombies co-op map “Terminus” in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Since its introduction in World at War, CoD’s multiplayer Zombies maps have been one of the most persistently anticipated features when present throughout the franchise’s history, and this one looks a lot more ambitious than before.
The map looks to be far bigger than usual, but it’s not just for show. The video emphasizes that the entire visible map will be a part of the game, including for quests. Clips show players driving boats around, a first for the mode, and diving into the water—and giant tentacles rising up in response.
There’ll be a number of triggerable “scripted events” through a “living world” initiative. These are meant to add depth to the environmental storytelling, with zombies pivoting away from their current state, whether it’s dormant in a test tube or eating a person, and making the player their new focus. There are even some NPCs present around the map, such as prison guards.
The team also previewed some new wild features, including a zombie with a head that turns into another attacking zombies, and a “tentacle trap” that waits for zombies to come through the door before eating them up.
Last week, the CoD team also posted a massive “Intel Barrage” blog with more details about Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode, including enemies, the customizable HUD, crafting and more.
