Upcoming “space-time epic fantasy MMORPG” Chrono Odyssey got a brand new gameplay trailer today, highlighting the game’s seamless open world, combat, and its signature time mechanics that will be a key part of the experience.
The world of Setera is there for the exploration, from the beautiful hills and river shown, to the places where you’ll encounter enemies of all sizes. The trailer, which is set to a musical score from veteran composer Cris Velasco, gives an idea of the different types of environments you’ll find yourself in, the weather system that will change with the seasons, as well as the scale of some of the encounters to expect. And, of course, the ability to manipulate time and space to take on all the various challenges.
Challenges there will be. The trailer shows the ability to quickly freeze enemies in place, and sometimes to strike down groups of enemies you’ve slowed or frozen. Not only will you get to do things like that, but sometimes finding a solution may require exploring alternate timelines and other mechanics.
Learning these time-space manipulation abilities will also help you when it comes to some of the huge world boss type enemies. There isn’t a shortage of those here, as we see a group of characters take on a large horned creature in the forest, and a giant dragon that flies into a larger field.
The dragon has mysterious glowing markings on its body, and the group battling it have various abilities to counter the large beast in front of them all. There will be six available character classes, Assassin, Berserker, Paladin, Ranger, Sorcerer, and Swordsman, and you can see some of their contributions in the combat on display.
In a release announcing the new trailer, producer Samuel Seo says “It is with our deep passion and appreciation that we unveil our trailer today. Chrono Odyssey is an ambitious project created by passionate developers and avid gamers who understand the power of immersive gaming experiences”.
Chrono Odyssey, which is built in Unreal Engine 5, was originally announced back in 2020 as a next-gen MMORPG. Things are on track for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
