Disney Announces Toontown Championships 2006

Toons Invited to Compete in the 2nd Annual UK Toontown Championships for the Chance to Win Fame, Glory and Amazing Prizes

London – 24th July 2006 - With schools breaking up for the summer, most UK families will be planning a variety of activities to keep themselves occupied during this period. To help keep boredom at bay, the Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG) is today launching the 2nd annual Toontown Championships - a perfect way for families to stay busy and have fun together.

Toontown Online, the award-winning online computer game from Disney (NYSE: DIS) designed specifically for families with kids aged six to 12, is hosting five Toontown Championship events every weekend beginning 29/30 July and ending 26/27 August 2006. Kids and their families are invited to enter the Toontown Championships online at www.toontown.co.uk/championships where one winner and two runners-up will be selected every weekend and awarded great prizes such as Disney Mix Stick MP3 players, DVDs and plush toys. In addition, winners and their personalised Toons will be featured on a ‘Leaderboard’ thus gaining fame and glory with their fellow players and receive a personalised certificate with their Toon.

Tens of thousands of people have already passed through the virtual gates of Toontown since the game’s launch in 2004, exploring an amazing world full of hilarious adventures, challenging quests and classic Disney magic. In Toontown, everyone gets to create their very own cartoon character, and interact and unite with other players online in a quest to defeat the Cogs, evil humourless robots intent on turning Toontown into a boring corporate metropolis. Toons must use cartoon-style gags such as squirting flowers and falling anvils to make the Cogs laugh and banish them from Toontown.

On Toontown Championships weekends, players will have to complete certain tasks – ranging from battling with the Cogs, to fishing in the Toontown ponds, kart racing and playing trolley games – to earn points. The Toons who score the most points that weekend will be the winners and their names will be announced on the following Thursday. Each weekend will be a separate event and players may only come in first place once so there are lots of opportunities to win! Check out the web site and join the challenge. Are YOU Toon Enough?

The Toontown Championships are open to everyone*, both current and new players. Anyone can play Toontown free for three days at www.toontown.co.uk/championships.

*All players may take part but only UK residents are eligible to win prizes
