Champions Online is twelve years old! And the celebration is going on for the month of September with a series of weekly events, including returning anniversary events and old favorites, giveaways, and more.

Millennium City opened up the anniversary events for the first week, which will run from September 2-8th at 8AM PT. Last year's anniversary feature, Top Ten, will be there to give a tour of Champions Online history, based on the top ten favorite things about the game that the fans voted on. During the first week, expect a scavenger hunt that will have you tracking down both heroes and civilians.

There's nothing too unrealistic or held back in a colorful game about heroes like this, so one of the other special missions that is returning is helping NPC Martha Reese track down her cat's friends stuck up in trees. Once you save all of the wayward kitties like a good neighborhood hero would, there will be new perks and rewards to enjoy. Also coming back is Sapphire, who will hold a concert in the city where all can come dance and celebrate.

Everyone will be able to obtain anniversary goodies with a free pack that includes items like a mount, plus a respec token and a character slot, in case coming back or starting a new alt for the festivities appeals to you. When a game has been running as long as Champions Online has, sometimes revisiting can be surprising, or other times feel just like an old friend. We did just that last year and you can read our impressions right here.

There will be events and prizes changing each week in September. For more details on the first week of the celebrations, including a rundown on quest rewards (auras! costume pieces!) and more, visit the Champions Online anniversary page.
