Second Dinner has deployed an “Imbalance Patch” for Marvel Snap, celebrating Valentine’s Day with a weeklong “Power Couples” event.
This type of event is new for the game. Second Dinner has temporarily added power to certain cards if they’re played together in the same deck. For example, She-Hulk gets a +2 power buff if Daredevil is in the deck with her and vice-versa. Playing both cards onto the board will result in a total of +4 power.
The full set of Power Couple pairs:
- Miles Morales & Ghost-Spider +1 Power
- Black Panther & Nakia: +1 Power
- Vision & Scarlet Witch: +1 Power
- Iron Man & Rescue: +1 Power
- Captain America & Agent 13: +2 Power
- Gambit & Rogue: +2 Power
- Invisible Woman & Mr. Fantastic: +2 Power
- She-Hulk & Daredevil: +2 Power
- Star-Lord & Gamora: +1 Power
- Angela & Sera: +1 Power
The bonuses are small, but significant enough that players have been cooking up Valentine’s Week decks to take advantage of the pairs. Some have also made meme decks trying to cram as many of the power couple cards into a single deck as they can. Not exactly the most powerful, but love always prevails (right?).
One member of the Discord community inquired about the possibility of keeping the “imbalance” changes, noting that Captain America (a card sorely in need of a buff) and Agent 13 feel great to play together with the newly improved stats. Unfortunately, Second Dinner’s Glenn Jones had the following to say on the matter:
“We're not using this event to evaluate future balance changes, though it could wind up informing them incidentally.”
Hopefully the changes “incidentally” lead to some buffs to some cards on that list that could definitely use them.
The Marvel Snap Power Couples event runs from February 14 through February 20 at 10AM PT.
