CD Project Red’s new joint CEO Adam Badowski revealed plans to begin production on The Witcher 4 this year in comments made to Reuters earlier this week.
Badowski intends to have “around 400 people” working on The Witcher 4 by mid-year.
The Witcher 4, otherwise known by its codename ‘Polaris’ will be the first title in a new trilogy of Witcher RPG titles being developed by CDPR. The series has sold over 75 million copies across the first three entries since the release of The Witcher in 2007.
Currently, no information is available on when The Witcher 4 might be released, but according to Reuters, analysts expect the game to release sometime in 2026 or 2027.
The Witcher 4 isn’t the only major franchise on CDPR’s docket. After a successful turnaround of Cyberpunk 2077 and the critically acclaimed release of its Phantom Liberty expansion, the developer is set to begin work on the game’s sequel. One developer, Igor Sarzynski, described the game as a “warm up” for what’s to come in the sequel.
First day in the Boston office! So good to meet old friends and officially kickstart our Orion journey. I couldn't be more excited for this project and i'm sure we can make it something special. 2077 was just a warm-up ??

Between the new Witcher RPGs, the Cyberpunk sequel, and everything else CDPR is working on, fans of both series will have plenty to look forward to in the coming years.
