Eight years after its release, The Witcher 3 is finally getting mod tools. Announced on Twitter, CD Project announced that modders will finally be able to develop original creations without having to edit content or quests already in the game. The tools are set to drop sometime in 2024, but no further information is available at this time.
Given all the incredible mods that are already available for The Witcher 3, you’re probably as surprised as we are right now that everything the mod community has done with the game so far was done without official mod tool support.
Regardless, the timing is fortuitous as it may be some time before we get a wholly new Witcher title from CDPR. The next few years should be interesting as the modding community will be empowered to fully unleash their creativity with the official release of mod tools next year. We’ve seen what having a great set of tools available can do for games like Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
We're thrilled to announce that we're working on a mod editor for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt! ??It will allow you to create your own experiences in the game by making something completely new or editing existing quests and content. We’re planning on releasing it for free in 2024.… pic.twitter.com/e2kvXRqegZ

If for whatever reason you haven’t jumped into The Witcher 3, now’s a good time as ever to jump in. The Witcher 3’s next gen update, released late last year, added enough to make it feel like a whole new game.
