Capcom is showing off Dragon's Dogma 2's many character creation possibilities in a new video released as part of IGN's ongoing First coverage for the game.
IGN sat down with Dragon's Dogma 2's game director Hideaki Itsuno to discuss how the new character creator improves on the original. Dragon's Dogma's character creator was no slouch, mind you, but with the game releasing all the way back in 2012, it was understandably limited by the hardware performance of the seventh generation consoles. This time around, however, Itsuno says they were able to do everything they wanted.
Initially, the team intended to create a more simple character creator, but as time went on they decided to instead offer as much detail as some players would want while providing an option for a more straightforward experience for those who don't want to be bothered.
How detailed does it all get? Well, there are two body types per race, nine base bodies per type, an untold number of head variants based on scans made from roughly a hundred different people. And that's just the beginning. If you want you can get even more granular with the ability to adjust 12 different sliders just for your character's nose.
Dragon's Dogma 2 releases on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 22, 2024.
