Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter: World has hit a 25 million unit global sales milestone. This announcement comes ahead of the series’ 20th anniversary celebration this month.
The first entry in the series released in 2004 and is known for pitting players against vicious monsters in both single player and co-operative play. The series as a whole has sold 97 million units through December 31, 2023.
The release of Monster Hunter: World marked the series’ first simultaneous worldwide launch and in just a month after release became Capcom’s best-selling game of all time.
Now six years after its launch, Monster Hunter: World is responsible for more than a quarter of the series’ cumulative sales. Late last year, Capcom announced Monster Hunter Wilds, the newest mainline entry in the series, with a release set for sometime in 2025.
In our review of Monster Hunter: World, we said, “Monster Hunter World is a solid title that will soak up a lot of time if you enjoy beautiful graphics, hunting beautiful, dangerous and unique creatures, and crafting buttloads of weapons and gear.”
Monster Hunter: World is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms.
