Microsoft announced this week that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be on Game Pass day and date with the game’s official launch on PC and consoles.
This announcement didn’t come out of left field as a report in The Wall Street Journal earlier this month claimed that Microsoft would make the move with its next entry in the Call of Duty franchise.
It’s an interesting move for the company. Game Pass hasn’t been performing as of late and offering the next Call of Duty free with the subscription could be exactly what the service needs to attract new subscribers. On the flip side, offering CoD day one on Game Pass may hurt the game’s retail sales some. We’ll have to wait and see how it pans out.
A new live action reveal trailer for Black Ops 6 dropped alongside the news. The new video features notable world leaders involved in the ‘90s Gulf War including Bill Clinton, Saddam Hussein, George H.W. Bush, Margaret Thatcher. It’s all very cryptic, but we’re set to find out more very soon.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be officially unveiled at Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase on June 9 at 10AM PT / 1PM ET.
