Bungie is preparing to release Destiny 2’s The Final Shape’s second episode, Echoes: Act 2, on July 16th. The team streamed a look at the new content, improvements, and changes in line with player feedback, including releasing all of the story at once.
Echoes: Act 2 will feature new Battlegrounds on Nessus. The team showed some of the locations in the stream as the new Battlegrounds will let players explore what has changed since the end of Act 1. Battlegrounds themselves are set to feature new bosses and to feature more combat intensive challenges. You might find dozens of enemies on screen at the same time and an urgency to learn how to control and slay them. One of the enemies shown were the Vex Wyverns, which attack in pairs and will actually teleport and flank players, offering an element of surprise and evasion on the part of these creatures.
There was plenty of criticism after saying they moved on from seasons, but kept a pace that kept back content in the episodes to preserve weekly updates, in Act 2 all three parts of the story in the new episode will be released at the same time. The same will apply when Act 3 releases. This is in response to the complaints about pacing that accompanied Destiny 2’s seasons. Many felt the weekly pace of Act 1’s releases didn't represent a meaningful change from the previous season model.
Bungie agreed with the feedback and so we'll get all the new content at once, so some people will inevitably complete the whole story very quickly and others can just play through at their own pace. Get ready to continue following Saint-14 after a brush with the mysterious Conductor.
We can also expect new Artifact mods and Seasonal weapons, Solstice armor ornaments and more next week, With the team planning another stream and lots more info for launch day next week.. The next episode, Revenant, will be out in October.
