In its first statement to Destiny 2 players since layoffs rocked the studio earlier this week, Bungie discusses its path forward and the loss of fans' trust.
The statement, titled "Our Path Forward", offers reflection on what Bungie described as a "one of the most difficult weeks in our studio’s history," and acknowledges that the studio has lost the trust of its fans following the disappointing reception of Lightfall, Destiny 2's latest expansion, as well as the reveal of The Final Shape, the now delayed expansion intended to conclude the game's Light and Darkness saga.
The studio also used the statement to emphasize its committment to "surprise and delight" fans, an area in which Bungie has dropped the ball in as of late. According to Bungie, "more than 650 dedicated teammates" are hard at work on The Final Shape and the Episodes to follow it. More details on what's ahead in the short-term are said to be coming in the "weeks ahead."

They're gonna need to do more than release a good expansion to earn back trust

It looks like Bungie has an uphill battle to climb as fans don't appear to be convinced so far.
