Broken Ranks Explains 'Ragebar' To Turn Bad Luck Around In Combat, Coming Next Update

Whiffed a few too many times? Teased last month and now coming in the next update, a new bad-RNG “ragebar” will be added to free-to-play MMORPG Broken Ranks, letting players counter their poor rolls in combat with guaranteed counter-abilities.

In short, the ragebar is meant to be a counter to Broken Ranks’s roll-based mechanics that can often make it, well, infuriating when bad rolls just keep happening. The ragebar will fill up every time a player is either hit by an attack or misses one of their own, which accumulates with more attacks received or missed per battle.

Once enough rage points have been filled, players can take one of three abilities with their Ragebar: a “Discharge of Rage” with a 100% hit chance extra attack, “Recovery” that heals mana and stamina, and “Furious Reflexes” that lets the player dodge all incoming attacks that round with a chance to parry.

When you use one of these abilities, you can also test your reflexes in a mini game—and the better you do, the less rage points you use, which means another ability can be used sooner.

According to the official blog, the ragebar will come with Broken Ranks’s April 9th’s update and can be unlocked with a tutorial at level 7.

The blog also lets players know that the main storyline is in the works and that “our writers let their hair down,” while the “challenge arena” has been pushed back a quarter.
