Book of Travels, Might and Delight’s cozy TMORPG,  got a new patch to fix some bugs, and the team has announced more about the game’s future and what we can expect.

Like many other teams, the Swedish studio has faced difficulty over the past couple of years, downsizing the team and then downsizing again. This comes to their announcement about the future of Book of Travels, which they are committing to keeping up and running, and new projects.

“The studio is patching and updating the current Book of Travels game build ongoing. Future updates will include a focus on community requests and a balancing pass for the inventory. However, content updates for the game will be rare and far in-between.”

The latest patch fixed some bugs in trading, that was causing characters to  get stuck, or get locked in place unexpectedly, and even things where the screen was getting blurry while you were in combat. The focus was clearly on bugs that really affected the player experience.  Another one they fixed was traders no longer stocking fishing rods. These are essential fixes that let people enjoy the game and they were clearly things the community brought to the developers' attention.

They also made a couple of improvements like making reagents and Knots of Thankful Wishes occupy less inventory volume. The addition of the inventory volume weights system drew complaints, as reflected in recent reviews, which skew “mostly negative” on Steam, in response to what many consider the game being abandoned. In particular, the crowdfunded game's Early Access status and the $29.99 price tag both remain, and it seems that prior in-depth plans are likely done.
