Bluehole Reveals New Info About Airships

Airships are one of the more interesting features coming in Bluehole's Ascent: Infinite Realm, or A:IR. Based firmly in Steampunk, A:IR's ships are a means of transportation as well as a means of destruction for enemies. Moving throughout the floating landmasses takes skill and precision and the enemy is adept at utilizing an unwary traveller's inexperience to their advantage.

Constant evolution of an airship is crucial to survival and one of the core strategies used in A:IR. So what types of ships can players expect to find?

  • Nous Training Airship - as the name implies, a low altitude beginner ship and obtainable via questing for a single player
  • Ontari Training Airship - similar to the Nous, but craftable and it can be upgraded for faster speed, more power and a bit higher altitude capability
  • Vulpin Airship - different in style from the Ontari, but largely similar in ability
  • Single Vulpin / Ontari Assault Airship - personal airship only usable in battle, can have a crew of two and unlimited altitude
  • Multi-passenger Vulpin / Ontari Assault Airship - only available for battle with up to five players on the crew. It's a large ship with big defenses and attacks, but slow moving
  • Wind Sprinter - non-combat racing ship available at end game
  • Black Ship / Merchant Ship - only usable in certain dungeons and is a non-combat ship
  • Large-scale Ship - can carry up to 75 players and is more like a transfer ship to bring troops to battle in Dragon Valley. It also features "a large number of flying mounts and cannons"

Weapons include jetpacks, mechs, a boardable machine gun, automatic machine gun, boardable cannon, turrets, and boardable flame cannon.

As players progress, the terrain and altitude become higher and tougher, and the enemy threats become more intense. The airships contain powerful weapons to help deal with the sudden appearance of monsters and enemy threats. Mounts, pioneering equipment, and weapons must be enhanced in order to sustain expansion and protection. The constantly evolving airships and weapons are the core survival strategy of A:IR. When getting the role and functions of all the available airships and equipment, and actively utilizing them, A:IR will be a more complete and solid experience.
