Maplestory has announced a collab event for the release of the third season of Konosuba, a well-known “isekai” show—and you’ll get plenty of explosions out of it. Previewed on an official Twitch stream, the collab centers on a series of quests featuring the protagonists of Konosuba who suddenly show up in the Maplestory world, which seems very isekai of them.
One of the more on-themed quests that they offer lets you meet Megumin, the mage of explosive fame, who asks you to use her Explosive Magic to blow up 5,000 mobs in a daily quest for her medal. Megumin’s iconic ability is pretty cool here, though—it lets you instakill enemies for 10 seconds straight, once per day, earning you 30x experience. Not too bad, not to mention each NPC seems to give you an ability that you can use during their quests. Use each ability 10 times, and you’ll earn their Medals for the event.
Totems do make an appearance here, with the ones for free as part of the event being temporary, and the cash shop box ones being permanent (which will definitely likely cause some discontent among players). Medals earned through the quests are permanent with standard effects, though there’ll be extra buffs for 30 days. Players can also claim a rotating series of buffs from certain towns, as in prior events.
