New World’s second season, Blood of the Sands, is coming on July 6th. Amazon Games announced the new season with a dev breakdown video, along with a rundown on what to expect.

The next storyline is centered around Brimstone Sands, if you couldn't tell from the title. A group calling themselves Blood of the Sands and their leader, Malek, are searching for the eggs of the mysterious and huge creature many call the Devourer. To them, the creature is known as Shah Neshen, and the story will take you into their order and origins, and why they’re on this mission now.  The Silver Crows and Rima the bard will assist in uncovering those deep secrets.

With a new season comes a new Season Pass, fresh activity card, challenges, and rewards. In addition, one of the most requested and anticipated features is finally on the way: Transmog. Transmog is scheduled for a mid-season update. You'll be able to use transmog tokens, a new consumable, that will capture the appearance of gear that you collect and add that as skins for your cosmetics collection.

Speaking of anticipated additions – the sand wurm is coming! That whole Devourer stuff? Well, guess who that is. The new Elite Trial, Arena of Shah Neshen, the Devourer, is on the way. This is a PVE mode for 20 max level players and the development team has been working on this for awhile in order to make it a real challenge. You’ll also want to earn the new Heartrune ability: Devourer, where you can summon your own giant sand wurm up from the ground for massive damage.

This packed new season also brings in Raid Groups. Coordinate with up to 20 players for a raid group to share rewards and take on world activities with ease. Fulfilling more promises, Cross-World Outpost Rush is also a planned Season 2 feature. Summer Medleyfaire will return, a new 3v3 Arena is coming,  and there will be new events too.

A Seasonal Trial, The Hatchery, is also coming. A challenge for 10+ max level players, you can earn the maximum rewards seven times a week, but you can still continue taking on the challenge for additional, but smaller, rewards.

Something mysterious is going on with First Light –the settlement, Trading Post, and Fort will close, with a wall of thorns cutting off access. “We have big plans for the territory. This is only the first step. Stay tuned for more news about the future of “Old First Light.”

Blood of the Sands is heading to the PTR on May 25th, beginning at 10 AM PDT.
