If you're looking to go to BlizzCon 2023 this year in Anaheim, be prepared to spend a pretty penny. Ticket sales have been announced by the company today, starting on July 8th. And yes, the General Admission cost is $299.
BlizzCon 2023 dates were announced back in May, with the in-person event arriving once again in November. Running November 3rd and 4th in Anaheim, California, BlizzCon is back in-person after being sidelined by COVID-19, as well as some reimagining of what the event could be.
According to Blizzard in their post on their website today, the company is hoping to make BlizzCon "feel more experiential than ever."
"This year, the goal is to make BlizzCon® feel more experiential than ever before. It will be a one-of-a-kind immersive experience, bringing attendees into the universes of Warcraft®, Diablo®, and Overwatch® with massive installations, art, and thematic spaces where friends can connect. Whether you’re kicking back in Azeroth, exploring the mysteries of a dark cathedral of Sanctuary, playing alongside the heroes of Overwatch®, or tuning in from home, we want you to feel you are entering universes alongside your friends as you celebrate and experience what we’re building next, and hear from developers all across Blizzard about their vision for our games, their craft, and more."
However, to experience that in person, it won't be cheap. BlizzCon pricing starts at $299 for its General Admission tickets. While the virtual stream will be free - traditionally even this was locked behind a paywall - the cost of entry in person will run you a pretty penny, especially in our current inflated economy.
General Admission does get you early access to the BlizzCon store, a BlizzCon backpack, and exclusive access to in-game goods, stuff that those watching at home likely won't have access to get at all.
Blizzard also announced its Portal Pass (a VIP admission, of sorts) giving even more perks to in-person attendees - though it'll set you back $799.
While the stream itself is free to watch this year, Blizzard is still selling its customary Virtual Ticket, which will include access to BlizzCon merch early, in-game goods and more. However, despite in-person pricing being announced, no price for the virtual ticket was mentioned.
Tickets will go on sale in two waves starting on July 8th at 10am PT via AXS. The second wave starts July 22nd at 10am PT, and there will be a limit of two tickets per transaction.
BlizzCon 2023 will host its Opening Ceremony in the BlizzCon Arena, though Blizzard is already noting that seating there will be limited. As a result, a random draw will be conducted to see who is able to watch it live in the theater, or who is relegated to catching it on the various screens around the Anaheim Convention Center.
There will still be the customary panels, community night, Charity Auction, and more, as well as the Overwatch World Cup finals happening at BlizzCon 2023. Learn more over on the official BlizzCon website.
